Atlanta Hawks swingman DeMarre Carroll left Wednesday's Game 1 against the Cleveland Cavaliers after suffering an apparent knee injury. It happened with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter. After screaming in agony on the court, he had to be helped to the locker room. After the game, a 97-89 loss, Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said Carroll has a left knee sprain and will have an MRI on Thursday.
It looked like a non-contact injury, which is obviously horrible news for Carroll and the Hawks. He has had an excellent postseason, and he's their primary defender on LeBron James in the conference finals. He will be a free agent in July.
