Washington Wizards forward Paul Pierce did it again, but it was just a fraction of a second too late. On what turned out to be their final play of the season, Pierce made a 3-pointer in the left corner. It was off the dribble, off one foot and contested. The Verizon Center went nuts thinking the veteran had sent Friday's Game 6 to overtime, but video review showed that the ball was still in his hand when the clock hit zero.
What an absolutely crushing way for a season to end. The Atlanta Hawks won 94-91 and they will advance to play the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The series starts Wednesday.
