Wizards guard Bradley Beal has admitted to taking the wrong mental approach in a Game 2 loss to Atlanta.
Beal claimed he tried to do too much when backcourt mate John Wall went down with a left hand and wrist injury.
"I think that's what kind of made me play the way I did," Beal told the Washington Post. "I was probably trying to do too much."
Beal took on more ball-handling responsibilities with Wall sidelined. He managed to dish out seven assists, but hit just 8-of-22 from the floor and 2-for-12 on contested shots. He took just three foul shots. Those numbers pale in comparison to his Game 1 effort in which he scored a game-high 28 points.
He states now that he should have let Ramon Sessions, who replaced Wall, do his thing.
"Instead of letting Sesh play the one and doing what he do and just continuing to do what I do, [I was] thinking , 'Oh man, I got to create, I got to get guys shots, I got to get rebounds, I got to score,'" Beal said. "I can't think like that."
Beal will get another chance, this time on his home court, Saturday evening in Game 3.
