Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be named the 2014-15 NBA Most Valuable Player according to a report from CSNBayArea.com. The official announcement will be made later in the week, potentially as early as Monday.
The sixth-year point guard, who reportedly beat out Rockets guard James Harden for the honor, averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists and 2.04 steals per game for the Warriors, who dominated in the regular season and currently are holding a 1-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Curry also was lights-out from 3-point range, shooting 44.3 percent from beyond the arc, while also leading the league in free-throw percentage at 91.4. Curry will become the first Warrior in the team's 53-year California history to win MVP.
