Heat center Hassan Whiteside said he's looking forward to being able to develop as a player over the offseason, reports the Sun Sentinel.
With Whiteside needing to spend the last two summers overseas to secure a roster spot with an NBA team, Whiteside said his secured spot on the team next season will allow him to improve as a player.
"It's going to be a big summer for me," Whiteside said. "My last couple of summers I had to go to China, I had to go to Lebanon. I had to go over here. This is really the first summer I can get with some coaches and actually work on my game and actually get on a program where I can lift weights and get better and become a better basketball player."
Whiteside will spend time in Miami working with Heat coaches as well as North Carolina, his hometown state.
"I'm going to still do the things that got me here," Whiteside said. "I worked out at home to get me here."
