As Pacers forward Chris Copeland continues to recover from stab wounds in his elbow and abdomen, Copeland issued a statement Thursday vowing to come back a better player, reports ESPN New York.
"I just want to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers," Copeland said. "I'm overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. I look forward to coming back stronger than ever. Thank you."
Copeland is currently in a New York intensive care unit with a punctured diaphragm as a result of the stabbing incident Wednesday morning.
Copeland also issued a statement through the Pacers apologizing for being out at a late hour.
"I want to thank all the fans, friends, teammates, coaches and the Pacers organization for their support and prayers during this time," Copeland said. "I also want to apologize to everyone, particularly the NBA and the Pacers for my bad choice at being out at that time. I am doing as well as can be expected and I will work hard to make a full recovery."
