The Thunder and Florida coach Billy Donovan are nearing an agreement for him to become the next coach of the Oklahoma City franchise, ESPN.com reports.
Donovan has been the team's preferred replacement for Scott Brooks ever since firing the former coach last week, CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger reported the day of the firing. He has spent the last 19 seasons coaching the Florida team, winning national championships in 2006 and 2007 and making the Final Four two other times, most recently in 2014. He was named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
A formal announcement of a deal is expected to come Thursday or Friday.
