The Sporting News reports that the Lakers will look to add a point guard in free agency, which has been rumored before. What's interesting is that the top of the list will feature Rajon Rondo before Miami Heat free agent Goran Dragic:
Assuming the Lakers stay in win-soon mode, it is a safe bet that they will go hard after the two top point guards on the market, with Bryant's pal Rajon Rondo at the head of the list and Goran Dragic behind him.

The Lakers have been linked to Rondo in the past. Our own Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reported all the way back in November that chasing Rondo would be the likely plan, well before Rondo was traded to Dallas. Berger actually reported back in 2013 that the Lakers had talked with the Celtics about a trade of Dwight Howard for Rondo. And of course Kobe and Rondo had breakfast together this year, which was a thing.
I remain a steadfast proponent of Rondo, as his defensive ceiling is higher than we've seen in the regular season in recent years, and he's an unparalleled playmaker, despite his shooting deficiencies. But Dragic is a superior package. He's a better scorer, an average defender, a superb playmaker, and a savvy floor general.
However, this may be centered around availability. Dragic has fit in like a glove in Miami, while Rondo has clashed with Rick Carlisle in Dallas.
Rondo could also fetch a smaller asking price than Dragic on the market. Dragic reportedly had the Lakers on his wishlist of trade targets from the Suns. Either way, it's clear that the Lakers want a point guard this summer, which means that Dragic, Rondo, and other guards, potentially Ty Lawson of the Nuggets, could be on the radar.
