TMZ has obtained a new video of the arrest of Thabo Sefolosha on Wednesday morning that resulted in a fractured tibia for the Hawks guard and has prompted an NBPA and NBA investigation.
The new video shows what is apparently moments before the previously released video, in which Sefolosha can be heard saying "OK, relax, man." There's then an altercation and it's unclear what happens but the police then force Sefolosha to the ground and one officer brandishes his baton. It's unclear whether contact was made on Sefolosha with the weapon on the cell-phone shot video.
Sefolosha and his teammate Pero Antic were arrested on charges of interfering with an investigation after police claim they failed to clear the area after Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed. Antic and Sefolosha were held overnight, and released in the morning. Photos showed Sefolosha wincing and wearing a makeshift splint on what was later discovered to be a fractured leg.
Antic and Sefolosha made a statement Wednesday that they intend to fight the charges. Their account seems to differ wildly with that of the police report which you can read here. A previous video showed police forcefully placing Sefolosha on the ground.
