Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha spoke to the media Tuesday about last week's incident and blamed the injuries he sustained on the police, the team announced.
"I will simply say that I am in great pain, that I have suffered significant injury and those were caused by the police," he said.
Sefolosha was arrested Wednesday morning at a nightclub in New York City after he got into a confrontation with police officers from the New York Police Department. Sefolosha sustained a fractured right fibula and ligament damage during the incident. He said he will undergo surgery in a few days to correct the leg fracture, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Internal Affairs bureau of the New York City Police Department has reached out to Sefolosha's lawyers in an effort to interview Sefolosha about the incident, sources told ESPN.com.
