Knicks president Phil Jackson will likely face a league fine for his comments about Ohio State freshman guard D'Angelo Russell, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports on Friday.
As part of a scouting trip, the 13-time NBA champion (11 as a coach) attended the Buckeyes' 81-57 win over Nebraska Thursday night, and had some positive words about the potential NBA lottery prospect. Russell leads the Buckeyes in points (18.7) and rebounds (5.7) per game this season.
"He's a great-looking kid," Jackson told the Northeast Ohio Media Group while walking out of Value City Arena in Columbus. "Great prospect."
The Knicks currently have the NBA's worst record at 10-46 and are in prime position for one of the top spots in this year's draft. At this point, the severity of Jackson's fine remains to be seen.
