The Rockets are assuring former Pistons forward Josh Smith he'd be a starter if he signs with Houston, reports ESPN's Marc Stein. Detroit waived Smith on Monday and he's expected to clear waivers at 5 p.m. ET Wednesday, freeing him to sign with any team.
Houston, Miami, Dallas, Sacramento and the Clippers all are reportedly interested in landing Smith, who was shooting a career-low 39.1 percent while averaging 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 blocks.
